PROVO, Utah - Quarterback Taysom Hill threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns during the BYU spring scrimmage at LaVell Edwards Stadium on Saturday morning.

Highlight here.

The nearly 90-minute-long scrimmage started at 11 a.m. and ended at 12:25 p.m. with more than 6,500 fans in attendance. Before the scrimage the team held a clinic for local youth that attracted more than 500 kids.

The offense scored four touchdowns and kicked two field goals on the day. One of the nation's top returning signal callers, Hill led 11 of 19 drives during the scrimmage, going 19 for 27 for 307 yards. The junior found senior tight end Devin Mahina, junior inside reciever Terenn Houk and junior wide receiver Kurt Henderson for touchdowns, including a 56-yard hookup to Houk down the right sideline.

Hill's passing game was also highlighted by a 53-yard completion to sophomore receiver Michael Davis in tight coverage.

WIth the mainline running backs being held out of the scrimmage, juniors Nate Carter and Jeremiah Burr were the featured backs, finishing with 61 and 62 yards, respecitvely. On the third drive, Carter punched in the first touchdown of the morning.

Senior quarterback Christian Stewart added 68 yards through the air on 10 of 16 passing. Houk and Henderson led the way with 74 receiving yards while junior college transfer receiver Nick Kurtz hauled in five receptions for 47 yards among nine different players catching a pass.

The defense also came to play as it forced three turnovers, including two fumble recoveries and one interception. Five different players recorded a sack with sophomore linebackers Jordan Egbert and DJ Doman, sophomore defensive back Garrett Juergens,  junior linebacker Jherremya Leuta-Douyere and senior defensive back Skye PoVey each tracking down the quarterback in the backfield.

The team will wrap its spring practices next Friday before heading into the summer break. BYU opens the 2014 season at Connecticut on Aug. 29 and has its first home game on Sept. 11 against Houston.
