Busby retires from BYU

Longtime BYU football administrator Duane Busby has announced he is retiring from BYU and college athletics to pursue other interests.

“BYU is a special place and it has been a privilege to be associated with the football program for nearly 20 years. I am especially grateful for the talented people that I was able to work with and for three different head coaches that were kind enough to allow me to help,” said Busby. “My best memories, however, will always be of the remarkable student-athletes that really make BYU what it is. It was inspiring for me to see them grow and develop both on and off the field. Their character and example have had a profound influence on me and my family.”

Busby joined the football program in 1996 and served under LaVell Edwards, Gary Crowton and Bronco Mendenhall. Over the years he played an important role in the success of the football program and in the lives and development of hundreds of student-athletes. He will certainly be missed.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have a true friend and professional like Duane to work closely with the past nine years,” said BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall. “Duane Busby is the epitome of BYU football and it has been an absolute pleasure for me to partner with him.”
