PROVO, Utah — Brigham Young University and Utah State University today announced the schools have signed a contract that will add two additional games to the current football series, extending the series through 2018.

The two games will be played at Utah State on Sept. 29, 2017 and at BYU on Oct. 5, 2018 — both on Friday night. The in-state rivals are now scheduled to meet at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo in 2014, 2016 and 2018 and at Romney Stadium in Logan in 2015 and 2017. Gametimes and broadcast plans will be announced at a future date.

“I appreciate the working relationship I have with Scott Barnes at Utah State,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “Scott has done an outstanding job at USU and is great to work with. We value the longstanding in-state rivalry with Utah State and look forward to these future games.”

The Cougars 34-14 win over the Aggies at Romney Stadium on Oct. 4, 2013, was the 83rd meeting between the two schools. BYU lead the overall series 46-34-3. Only the University of Utah has played more games (89) against BYU than Utah State.
