Several BYU baseball players were drafted in the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft, with junior Steve Parker heading the list.

Parker, a third baseman from American Fork, was drafted in the fifth round (153rd pick) to the Oakland A's.

Fellow junior Jeremy Toole, a right-handed pitcher from Huntsville, Texas, was taken in the 10th round by the San Francisco Giants.

Sophomore Stetson Banks, an outfielder from Mesa, Ariz., went in the 22nd round to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Kent Walton, a senior designated hitter from Yucaipa, Calif., was drafted in the 23rd round by the Oakland A's, the same team that took him in the 42nd round last year.

November signee Tyler Curtis from the College of Southern Idaho was taken in the 13th round by the Florida Marlins. Curtis is from West Jordan, Utah and prepped at Taylorsville High.

"We are happy for these players to get drafted and have that opportunity to go to the next level," said BYU coach Vance Law. "I am particularly pleased for Parker and Toole because they have worked hard to get to this point."
