PROVO -- In a two day tournament at Washington State last Friday and Saturday, the BYU women's tennis team advanced players to the finals in six of the eight singles tournaments, winning three of them. They also advanced doubles teams to the finals in three of the four doubles tournaments, winning one of them.
In flight one singles, Jodi Richardson defeated Erica Perkins of Washington State, 7-5, 6-0, to win the tournament. In flight three singles, Dominique Reynolds defeated Tamara Filipovic, also of Washington State, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, for the win, and Elizaveta Khoudoiarova defeated Lorena Arias of Washington State, 6-3, 6-4, to win the flight five singles. Other BYU players that made it to the finals in their respective tournaments are Lindsay Ferrell, Elyse Jensen and Jamie Parker.
In doubles, Richardson and Brooke Ferney defeated Stoop/Lawson of Boise State, 8-5, to win the flight one tournament. Reynolds/Khoudoiarova defeated Attard/Oehme, of Boise State, 8-1, to advance to the finals, but then lost 8-5 to McKenna/Filipovic, of Washington State. Ferrell/Jensen also advanced to the finals by defeating Hayward/Gimberg, of Boise State, 8-2, but lost to Dybicz/Arias, of Washington State, 8-6, in the finals.
