SEATTLE -- The BYU men's and women's track teams combined for 10 NCAA provisional qualifying marks, including four from the jump squads, at the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash. on Saturday.

The women's team swept three jump events during the meet. All-American Lindsey Metcalf won the high jump by clearing 5 feet 11.25 inches. Super sophomore Amy Menlove won the long jump competition with a personal best 20 feet 10 inches and Kamila Rywelska won the triple jump by leaping more than 43 feet.

"Our jumpers really came through today," BYU women's track coach Craig Poole said. "It was nice to see us get the marks we did."

All three jumpers received NCAA provisional qualifying marks.

Not to be outdone, the Cougar men added seven provisional marks of their own, led by triple jumper Rodrigo Mendes.

Mendes leapt 52 feet 9.25 inches on the way to a victory in the triple jump. Three more Cougars received provisional marks in the mile run including event winner Bryan Lindsay, who clocked in at 4:01.02, All-American Nathan Robison at 4:03.23 and Josh McAdams at 4:04.66.

"The mile was one of the best races this year," BYU men's track coach Mark Robison said. "Bryan and the others have been running really well."

The Arrhenius brothers continued their domination of the throws during Saturday's meet. Niklas finished second in the shot put with a toss of 60 feet 11.5 inches. Leif won the 35-pound weight throw for the second consecutive week by tossing the weight nearly 65 feet. Both throws were good enough for NCAA provisional qualifying marks.

Competing for the first time this season, pole-vaulter Robby Pratt finished third in the event with a provisional mark of 17 feet 3 inches.

Though he didn't received any NCAA qualifying marks, sprinter Jake Garlick had his best meet of the year. Garlick finished sixth in the 200 meters, third in the 400 meters and second in the 60-meter hurdles.

David Chesser also ran well finishing second in the 200 meters and fourth in the 400 meters. Jason Dorais and Lars Kjerengtroen finished third and fourth in the 800 meters.

Junior Ann Heiner ran a season best 9:42.88 in the 3,000 meters to finish third.

The Cougars now have a week off to prepare to the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championship, Feb. 24-26, 2005 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
