Born in Salt Lake City...parents are Norm and Sue...Eagle Scout...served an LDS mission to Tampa, Fla. (1997-98)...recruited by Arizona State, Colorado, Stanford, UCLA, Washington and Nebraska.
Before BYU
Played fullback and offensive line at Highland High...a three-year letterman in football...USA Today Honorable Mention in 1995...named all-region and All-East Valley...selected as the Defensive Player of the Year by the Tribune News...recipient of the Brian Murray Award for the best prep lineman in the state of Arizona...earned the Roger Konberg Award for the best lineman in Maricopa County...selected as the Curley Culp Award winner as the best lineman in the state of Arizona by the National College Football Hall of Fame...registered 85 unassisted tackles and seven sacks during his senior year...coached by former Cougar Mike Epperson.
Participated in spring drills...played in 10 games during the regular season...recorded 20 tackles on the season including 10 unassisted and 10 assisted...had two tackles for a loss of five yards...had five tackles including a tackle for a three yard loss against Virginia...recovered fumble and returned it 14 yards versus Wyoming...had one tackle for a two yard loss versus UNLV.
Participated in spring drills...played in Blue/White spring game.
