Lettered three times in football and twice in baseball at Orem High...played offensive guard, defensive tackle, first base and catcher...was all-state and a captain in football was also academic all-state...team placed second in state as a senior...coached by Paul Clark (BYU).

Played guard and was second-team all-conference at Snow where the team finished sixth in the nation in 1997.
