Born 12/21/72 in Burlingame...parents are Steve and Becky...married Cindy Scott in July, 1995...recruited by Washington State, Cal, Hawai'i and Stanford...majoring in special education.
Before BYU
Graduated from South San Francisco High...lettered in football and baseball three years...was all-state, all bay-area, all-county and all-league...coached by Mike Tenerowicz (Cal-Davis).
Was a candidate for shortstop with the baseball team, but elected to play spring football...had three catches for 36 yards and a TD in the spring game...BYU's leading punt returner...also returned kickoffs...had BYU's longest punt return (31 yards vs. Fresno State)...injured knee against Notre Dame and did not return until Air Force match-up.
Started 30 of his 35 games at shortstop for the Cougars and hit .337, including a pair of home runs...also participated in spring football...missed the Utah State game because of an ankle sprain...had a 42-yard reception from Steve Clements against UTEP...returned 15 punts for 115, including a 32-yarder against Utah...had two kickoff returns for 35 yards, including a 22-yarder at San Diego State.
Elected to give up playing baseball after three games in order to concentrate on spring football...started four games at wide receiver...was honorable mention All-Western Athletic Conference...suffered a thigh bruise against New Mexico, the only game in which he did not catch a pass...caught seven passes for 85 yards at Hawai'i and six passes for 110 yards and a TD at Air Force...had a clutch possession reception at Notre Dame...caught a 20-yard TD at UTEP...had a 27-yard TD catch at Utah...selected as coaches' player of the game (receivers) against Hawai'i, Air Force and Northeast Louisiana and for special teams against San Diego State.
Caught two TD passes in the spring game from Steve Sarkisian...has caught a pass in his last nine games.
