Career Summary

Shay Muirbrook came to BYU from Norco High School as a two-time all-state and all-California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section pick. The Blue Chip All-American went on to become BYU's leading defensive scorer and tackler his sophomore year. Muirbrook was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference Second Team that year and then to the All-WAC First Team as a junior. He earned first-team All-WAC honors and was also the WAC Defensive Player of the Year his senior season. Muirbrook was the Defensive MVP of the Cotton Bowl and co-winner of the Geneva Steelman Award. He won the Cougar Club Competitor Award, in additioning to the Strength and Conditioning Award and Defensive MVP as selected by the BYU coaches. Muirbrook was also nominated for the Butkus Award.
