Younger brother, Patrick, was a 1989 recruit signed by BYU...married Carri McCarty in May,1990...recruited by Texas, Houston, Wisconsin, Tulsa and Texas Tech...majoring in clinical social work.
Before BYU
Won three letters in football and track at Waco High...all-district and Super Cen-Tex selection...one of top 100 recruits in Texas...ran on mile relay team which placed third in state...played four positions in high school...outstanding student...coached by Johnny Tusa.
Was among the national leaders over half the year with four interceptions...played behind Rodney Rice.
Opened the season with a school record 97-yard pass interception which he returned for a touchdown against New Mexico...that play turned the game around and he was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week...first team All-WAC by the writers and second team by the coaches...led team with five interceptions.
Ran on the opening leg of the 4x100 team which finished seventh at the NCAA Championships to earn All-America honors,
