Parents are Fred and Nancy Whittingham...older brothers Kyle (coaching at Idaho State) and Cary were outstanding linebackers for BYU...father played and coached at BYU...father is a former NFL player and currently coaches for the Los Angeles Rams...student body president and star pupil in accounting and history...recruited by Dartmouth and Air Force...served a mission to Florida...majoring in psychology.

Before BYU

High School - All-league two years in football...rushed for over 1,000 yards in '82 and for 700 in '83 before sustaining an injury...team was 1983 CIF champion...lettered twice in football and once in both track and baseball...coached by Bob Lester (Kansas).

BYU Hall of Fame

Freshman Year 1984

Carried the ball 25 times for 67 yards and scored one touchdown (vs. Baylor) for the National Champions...caught one pass for nine yards.

Sophmore Year 1987

Leading rusher with 418 yards on 129 carries for 3.24 average...also caught 35 passes for 321 yards...scored three touchdowns.

Junior Year 1988

Led the team in rushing with 88 carries for 513 yards, three TDs and 5.83 average...was fifth in receiving with 27 catches for 220 yards...foruth in scoring with four TDs and a conversion carry for 26 points...started all 13 games...honorable mention all-conference in media selections...voted the Competitor Award by the Cougar Club.
