Parents are Earl and Beverly...has four brothers and two sisters...married to Julie Martin...a building construction major.

Before BYU

Had a 3.25 GPA at Arvada High...lettered three times in wrestling and football, twice in track...all-state in football as cornerback and running back...outstanding player of the year in '77 in Colorado...pole vaulted 13-6 in track...football coach was Bob Cortese (Colorado)...team was '76 AAA football champions.

Freshman Year 1977

Played extensively with the jayvee...had three punt returns against Ricks College.

Sophmore Year 1978

Got his chance to start when Bob Prested was injured during the Arizona State game...his best game came against SDSU with 42 defensive points from a pass interception, seven tackles (five unassisted) and causing four fumbles...was the coaches' choice for player of the game against CSU and SDSU.

Junior Year 1979

As a starter was an All-WAC pick...on either the special teams or as a defensive back he was selected seven times as player of the week for his position...scored a TD against SDSU from one of two pass interceptions in that game...intercepted a pair of passes against New Mexico...had an interception against Texas A&M...he had eight tackles against New Mexico and tallied 23 defensive points...made nine tackles against Colorado State...WAC player of the week against SDSU...AP honorable mention All-America.

Senior Year 1980

Associated Press honorable mention All-American...All-WAC First Team...played in the Japan Bowl...totaled 3 interceptions...fifth on the team with 58 tackles...also had 1 TFL, 2 fumble recoveries and a blocked kick...had 5 punt returns for 35 yards and 2 kickoff returns for 27 yards...blocked a punt vs. SDSU that was returned for a touchdown
