NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today the Scholar Teams of the Year as well as the All-Academic teams. BYU women’s track & field was among the 171 schools given All-Academic status.

The two teams honored as the DI Women’s Track & Field Scholar Teams of the Year for the 2012 seasons were Arkansas (Indoor) and Stanford (Outdoor). Just as qualifying for the All-Academic team individually, teams needed to meet certain academic and athletic standards. The teams earned the distinction as a result of being the highest-placing teams with at least a 3.00-cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, respectively.

Arkansas tied for fifth during the NCAA Indoor Championships and maintained a 3.18 GPA as a team. Stanford finished sixth during the NCAA Outdoor Championships and maintained a 3.26 GPA as a team.

The women on BYU’s track & field team maintained a cumulative team GPA of 3.27 and finished 17th during the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Nachelle Mackie, Lacey Bleazard and Allyson Anderson represented the team in the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Anderson earned second-team All-American honors by placing 16th in the javelin, and Mackie earned first-team All-American honors by winning the National Championship in the 800m.
