Mackie and Anderson named All-Americans
PROVO, Utah – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced today that Nachelle Mackie and Allyson Anderson claimed All-America honors at the 2012 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
Mackie completed her season sweep of the 800 meters, claiming the National Championship with a time of 2:01.06, the best time in the NCAA this season. She also won the 800 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships to become the first BYU athlete to win the same event in the same season at the two championship meets.
The Spanish Fork, Utah, native concludes her BYU career as a four-time All-American. In addition to her two National Championships, Mackie also earned All-America honors in the indoor distance medley relay in 2009 and 2012. She will compete for a spot on the US Olympic Team at the 2012 US Olympic Trials from June 21 to July 1 in Eugene, Ore.
Anderson, a junior, took 16th in the javelin with a throw that measured 148-1. The Billings, Mont., native was named a second-team All-American.
