COLLEGE STATION -- Junior Ada Robinson earned first team All-American honors on day one of the NCAA National Championships, clearing 1.84m (6-0.50) to place fifth overall.

“Ada (Robinson) had a great day today,” head coach Patrick Shane said. “She jumped right around her personal record and jumped really, really well.”

Robinson overcame early struggles, including a hard fall during warm ups, to finish in the top eight and take home All-American honors. This marks the second time Robinson has been named an All-American, including her fifth place finish in 2009.

Junior Diana Blauer competed in the high jump with Robinson and recorded a personal record, clearing 1.78m (5-10). With the finish Blauer earns second team All-American honors.

In the 800m race, junior Lacey Bleazard comfortably qualified for the finals with an eighth place finish in 2:06.78. Teammate Katie Palmer finished sixth in 2:06.49 but missed out on finals after finished fifth in her heat.

Palmer and Bleazard also competed in the distance medley relay alongside teammates Nicole Clark and Natalie Stewart. Clark led the team off with the 1200m leg of the race but was tripped up halfway through and the team struggled to improve, finishing 10th 11:17.83.

“I am so proud of our athletes for finishing the race strong,” Shane said. “We fell down and got back up to finish the race. That’s the lesson we can take away tonight.”

The BYU women will have three athletes competing on Saturday, with Bleazard leading the way in the 800 meter final at 5:20 pm MT. Rachel Fisher and Christen Botteron will compete in the pole vault at 3:00 pm MT.

ESPN2 will show a tape delay of the event on March 16 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern. ESPN3 will webstream the event on Saturday, March 12 from 4-7:50 p.m. The remainder of the event will be streamed live on NCAA.com.
