Mt. Sac Relays Underway

WALNUT -- Several athletes from BYU’s women’s track and field team competed on Thursday and Friday at the Mt. Sac Relays, with Katie Palmer-Cox bringing in the top finish of the day, fifth place in the 800-meter run.

Palmer-Cox competed in the Open University section of the 800m, and finished in a time of 2:08.48, a top eight Mountain West Conference time in the event.

Three BYU athletes competed in the 1500m Open University section, with Sarah Yingling leading the way with an 11th place finish in 4:30.12. Behind Yingling were freshmen Michaelanne Laurent in 4:32.06 (19th) and Lisa Drury in 4:35.15 (33rd).

In the 3000m steeplechase Open University section, Michelle Callister finished 15th in 11:32.05. In Invitational section of the same event, Katy Andrews finished 13th (10:27.00) and Rachel Lange finished 18th (11:01.56).

In the 10000m Olympic Development section, Millie Rapp finished 29th in 36:42.94. In the Open University section of the same event, Loren Wynn finished 27th (37:31.60) and Kathryn Vidmar finished 33rd (38:02.02).

Katie Bowen competed in the 5000m Olympic Development section, and finished 20th in 16:43.93.

Competition at the Mt. Sac Relays will continue tomorrow, with senior All-American Mindy McClurkin (long jump and 200m) and sophomore All-American Lacey Cramer (800m) in competition.
