Ross rises to No. 4 all-time in the pole vault at dual meet

PROVO, Utah — No. 12 BYU women’s track and field posted six personal bests across three different events at the BYU-Westminster Dual Meet at Robison Track and Field Complex on Wednesday.

Rebekah Ross registered the day’s lone top-10 mark with a clearance of 4.22m/13-10 in the pole vault. The sophomore from Spokane, Washington now ranks No. 4 all-time at BYU in the event, surpassing teammate Cailee Faulkner (4.20m/13-9.25). Ross’s previous outdoor best came at the Beach Invitational on April 15 at 4.17m/13-8.25.

Ross is tied for 16th nationally in the women’s pole vault standings with Tori Thomas of Illinois.

Cate Phipps, Tori Lord and Kira Hawkins each ran personal bests in the 200-meters with Phipps taking first at 25.43. Meredith Boggess and Maddy Eaton each improved their 400-meter hurdle times, taking third and fourth, while Kathryn Bingham took first at 1:01.06.

The track week continues for the Cougars as distance competes at the Oxy Invitational and Sound Running Track Fest in Los Angeles on Saturday beginning at 3:20 p.m. PDT.
