Ten BYU women to vie for national titles in the Duke City

PROVO, Utah — No. 17 BYU women's track and field will compete 11 athletes in seven different events at the 2023 NCAA Division I Indoor National Championships at Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico March 10-11.

Cailee Faulkner // 5'8, So. // Mesa, Arizona // Mountain View High School

• Ranked No. 8 nationally
• Holds BYU women's indoor pole vault record with clearance of 4.40m/14-5.25
• PR/Qualifying Mark: 4.40m/14-5.25 (Feb. 25 at BYU February home meet)
• 2023 MPSF Indoor Women's Pole Vault Champion
• Second-career indoor nationals appearance (finished tied for 14th in 2022).
• BYU's first-ever women's pole vaulter to win back-to-back individual indoor conference titles.
• BYU's first women's pole vaulter to qualify for back-to-back indoor nationals since Becky Jackson (1997-98).
• Looks to win BYU's first-ever indoor women's national title in a field event.

Riley Chamberlain // 5'10, Fr. // Loomis, California // Del Oro High School

• Ranked No. 14 nationally
• Ranked No. 4 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor mile with a time of 4:33.14
• PR/Qualifying Mark: 4:33.14 (Jan. 28 at Razorback Invitational)
• First-career nationals appearance
• Looks to win BYU's first women's indoor mile national title since 1983 and second all-time.

Claire Seymour // 5'7, Sr. // Modesto, California // Enochs High School

• Ranked No. 22 nationally 
• Ranked No. 2 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor 800-meters with a personal record of 2:02.20 (Feb. 2021 at Husky Classic)
• Third consecutive indoor nationals appearance, finishing as a First Team All-American in each of the last two seasons.
• Qualifying Mark: 2:02.75 (Feb. 25 at Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational in Seattle)
• Becomes BYU's third all-time 800 runner to qualify for three consecutive indoor nationals (Shea Collinsworth, 2015-17 and Lacey Cramer Bleazard 2009-11).
• Looks to win BYU's first women's indoor 800 title since 2012 and fourth all-time. 

Aubrey Frentheway // 5'1, Sr. // Cheyenne, Wyoming // Cheyenne Central High School

• Ranked No. 6 nationally
• Ranked No. 3 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor 5000-meters with a time of 15:32.82.
• PR/Qualifying Mark: 15:32.82 (Feb. 10 at David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston)
• First-career appearance at indoor nationals
• Looks to help BYU win back-to-back women's 5000 indoor titles (Courtney Wayment, 2022)

Taylor Rohatinsky // 5'6, Fr. // Highland, Utah // Lone Peak High School

• Helped BYU clock a school record and qualifying time of 10:49.24 (Feb. 17 at Arkansas Qualifier)
• Ranked No. 5 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor mile with a time of 4:33.79 (Feb. 10 at David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston)
• First-career indoor nationals appearance.
• Looks to help BYU win its second women's DMR title in three seasons.

Annalise Hart // 5'10, Jr. // Highlands Ranch, Colorado // Thunder Ridge High School

• Helped BYU clock a school record and qualifying time of 10:49.24 (Feb. 17 at Arkansas Qualifier).
• Ranked No. 9 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor 400-meters with a time of 54.79 (Feb. 25 at Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational in Seattle).
• First-career indoor nationals appearance.
• Looks to help BYU win its second women's DMR title in three seasons.

Alena Ellsworth // 5'10, Sr. // Gilbert, Arizona // Highland High School

• Helped BYU clock a school record and qualifying time of 10:49.24 (Feb. 17 at Arkansas Qualifier).
• 2023 marks her third-career indoor nationals appearance.
• Part of back-to-back school record-setting DMR squads.
• Ranked No. 4 all-time at BYU in both the 400 and 800.
• Looks to help BYU win its second women's DMR title in three seasons.

Sadie Sargent // 5'7, Sr. // Coalville, Utah // North Summit High School

• Helped BYU clock a school record and qualifying time of 10:49.24 (Feb. 17 at Arkansas Qualifier).
• Ranked No. 9 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor mile with a time of 4:35.94 (Jan. 28 at Razorback Invitational).
• Ranked No. 4 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor 3000-meters with a time of 8:57.08 (Feb. 25 at Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational in Seattle).
• First-career appearance at indoor nationals.
• Looks to help BYU win its second women's DMR title in three seasons.
• Looks to win BYU's second indoor 3000 title in three seasons (Courtney Wayment, 2021).

Distance Medley Relay History

• 2023 marks BYU's seventh consecutive season qualifying a women's DMR squad for indoor nationals.
• Alena Ellsworth, Lauren Ellsworth-Barnes, Olivia Hoj Simister and Courtney Wayment combined to win the 2021 national title with a time of 10:52.96 (then a school record). 
• Alena Ellsworth returns to the Albuquerque Convention Center for the first time since it played host to the 2020 Indoor National Championships. Ellsworth, Lauren Ellsworth-Barnes, Anna Camp-Bennett and Whittni Orton were slated to compete for DMR title prior to the meet's abrupt cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Cierra Tidwell Allphin // 5'8, Jr. // Gilbert, Arizona // Highland High School

• Ranked No. 9 nationally
• Tied with Andrea Stapleton-Johnson for No. 2 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor high jump with a clearance of 1.87m/6-1.5.
• PR/Qualifying Mark: 1.87m/6-1.5 (Feb. 25 at BYU February home meet).
• Second-career indoor nationals appearance, finished tied for eighth in 2022. 
• Looks to win BYU' first-ever women's indoor field title.

Lexy Halladay-Lowry // 5'8, So. // Boise, Idaho // Mountain View High School

• PR/Qualifying Time: 8:57.39 (Feb 24 at Ken Shannon Last Chance Invitational in Seattle)
• Ranked No. 5 all-time at BYU in the women's indoor 3000 at 8:57.39.
• First-career indoor nationals appearance.
• Looks to win BYU's second women's 3000 title in three seasons (Courtney Wayment, 2022)
