Faulkner enters pole vault top-10 on triple-meet day

PROVO, Utah — True freshman pole vaulter Cailee Faulkner highlighted BYU women’s track and field performances across three meets with the fourth-best outdoor pole vault mark on Friday.

Bobcat Invitational Results

Faulkner built upon her 4.00m mark at the Texas Relays from a day ago with a mark of 4.20m/13-9.25 at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, setting a new personal best in her young career and jumping from outside the school’s top-10 in the event to No. 4 all-time in program history. She also owns the indoor pole vault school record of 4.36m/14-3.5.

Fellow pole vaulter Rebekah Ross made her outdoor debut at the meet, placing 12th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.90m/12-9.5.

Also in San Marcos, Chloe Taylor set a new personal best in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:04.29, while Kate Thomas (1:01.02) placed second in the event. Dolita Awala-Shaw set a personal best of her own in the 200m, clocking a 25.06.

Texas Relays Results

At the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, the squad of Annalise Hart, Brilee Pontius, Kate Thomas and Brinn Jensen ran a 3:39.98 in the 4x400 to place eighth and advance to Saturday’s final scheduled for 4:40 p.m. CDT.

In the 4x100, Adaobi Tabugbo, Raymond, Jensen and Hart placed 22nd with a time of 46.94. Tabugbo also competed in the 100m hurdles, clocking a 13.86, good for 17th place.

Aztec Invitational Results

Throwers concluded the day at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego with the hammer throw. Freshman Jayda Lee finished seventh with a mark of 49.51m/162-5, and Leah Thompson, who placed 10th, set a new personal best, tossing 47.20m/154-10.

The Cougars will conclude the weekend on Saturday, March 26 at both the Texas Relays and the Aztec Invitational. The high jump in Austin will kick off at 11 a.m. CDT, and the javelin throw in San Diego is set to begin at 9 a.m. PDT.
