Folsom Walker sets personal bests, Faulkner makes freshman outdoor debut
AUSTIN, Texas — BYU women's track and field saw two athletes compete at Mike A. Meyers Stadium as the 94th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays continued on Thursday.
Halley Folsom Walker closed out heptathlon competition with strong efforts in the long jump and 800m. The senior began the day by jumping a new personal best of 5.65m/18-6.5, nearly a foot further than her previous best.
In the 800m, she ran a 2:08.54, crushing her previous best by more than two seconds. A second-place finish in the event helped Folsom Walker jump from 12th overall to record a seventh-place finish in the heptathlon, also totaling 5,575 points, a new personal best by 50 points.
Coming off a pole vault qualification at the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Track and Field National Championships, true freshman Cailee Faulkner made her outdoor debut at the Relays. The pole vaulter finished 11th with a mark of 4.00m/13-1.5.
The Cougars will continue action at the Texas Relays on Friday, March 25, beginning with the 4x100 at 9:35 a.m. CDT. BYU athletes will also be competing at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas, starting with the long jump at 2 p.m. CDT, and throwers will conclude the day at the Aztec Invitational in San Diego, California with the hammer throw at 3:30 p.m. PDT.
