Tabugbo, Eyestone earn annual MPSF honors
BYU continued receiving conference honors on Wednesday as the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation awarded two of its three post-championship meet honors to sprinter Adaobi Tabugbo and director of track and field Ed Eyestone.

Tabugbo earned MPSF Women's Athlete of the Meet honors after winning individual conference titles in both the 60 meter dash and 60 meter hurdles, contributing a total of 23 points to the Cougars' first women's MPSF team title.

The freshman from Laurel, Maryland, set personal bests in both the 60 meter hurdles (8.39) and 200 meter dash (24.92) during the weekend. Tabugbo is also the first indoor track and field freshman since 2011 to receive to the MPSF's top award.

Eyestone coached the Cougars to their third consecutive men’s MPSF title and the women’s first at the league’s championship meet on Feb. 19. Saturday marked the BYU women’s first indoor conference title since winning the Mountain West in 2011. The men won the meet with a team total of 190, 50 points ahead of runner-up Long Beach State. Meanwhile, the BYU women came in over 100 points in front of the 49ers.

Between the men’s and women’s teams, the Cougars collected 15 individual titles and three squad titles by the women’s 4x400 team and the men’s distance medley relay and 4x400 teams. BYU track and field has never won as many individual titles in Eyestone’s near decade-long tenure as head coach.

Alumni Watch
BYU track and field alumni will be among the competitors at the USATF Indoor National Championships at The Podium in Spokane, Washington on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 26-27.
