Track and Field to compete at MPSF Indoor Championships

PROVO, Utah -- BYU men's and women's track and field remains on the road as it sends athletes to compete at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships at The Podium in Spokane, Washington on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 18-19.

  • MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships
  • Venue: The Podium in Spokane, Washington
    • Tickets
    • No proof of vaccination is required for entry, however face coverings are mandatory for all spectators ages five and older.
  • Friday and Saturday Feb. 18-19
    • Friday events run 10:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. PST
    • Saturday events run 10 a.m. to 1:25 p.m.

Rankings and Recognition...

The BYU women moved up two spots to No. 7 when the USTFCCCA's top-25 national rankings were released on Monday. Seven BYU athletes in six events and one relay team are currently in qualifying position for the NCAA Indoor National Championships.

  • Claire Seymour's season-best 800m time of 2:04.84, set on Feb. 4, keeps her in front of athletes from North Carolina, Miami and No. 10 Virginia Tech.
  • Courtney Wayment commands the No. 1 (5000m) and No. 2 (3000m) times in the country. Wayment's 5000m time of 15:15.46 has stood since the Boston Season-Opener on Dec. 4. 
  • Lexy Halladay is No. 10 nationally in the women's 3000m with a time of 9:02.32.
  • Cierra Tidwell's high jump clearance of 1.86m/6-1.25 at the Texas Tech Shootout on Saturday, ranked her No. 5 among athletes from No. 4 LSU, Kansas and No. 6 Texas Tech. 
  • Gretchen Hoekstre's Jan. 13 shot put mark of 17.10m/56-1.25 remains No. 12 in Division I. 
  • Zach McWhorter and Caleb Witsken represent men's pole vault. McWhorter continues to hold the top clearance in the country at 5.82m/19-2.25. 
  • Garrett Marsing, Cortez Ruiz, Austin Klingler and Aidan Troutner combine to hold the nation's No. 13 time in the men's distance medley relay. They lead teams from No. 7 Oregon, Dartmouth, Iowa State and Idaho.
