Wayment named to The Bowerman Watch List
NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association named BYU track and field senior Courtney Wayment to its latest watch list for The Bowerman on Wednesday.
Honoring the most outstanding men’s and women’s collegiate athletes in track and field, Wayment makes her first career appearance on the award’s watch list. The senior joins nine other women’s track and field athletes on the pre-NCAA indoor championships update.
Wayment, who hails from Layton, Utah, blistered the oval at The Dempsey over the weekend with the fastest mile time of the year at 4:30.47. That added to a resume that also includes the nation’s fastest 3000m performance of 8:54.90. Both marks make her No. 2 all-time for BYU, each time behind Whittni Orton, the last Cougar woman to make the award's watch list.
The complete watch list can be found on ustfccca.org.
The next update to the women’s watch list will be released on March 24.
