BYU women's team secures No. 11 in USTFCCCA rankings

NEW ORLEANS – The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has ranked the BYU women’s track and field team No. 11 in the nation in its latest ratings release on Monday.

Following a historic past weekend at the BYU Cougar Invitational, the Cougars moved up one spot to No. 11. All-American Andrea Stapleton-Johnson earned a NCAA-leading mark and set a new school record after clearing 1.89m/6-2.25 in the women’s high jump. All-American Brenna Porter clocked 56.89 in the 400m hurdles to set a school record and run the seventh-fastest time currently in the NCAA.

This is the second time this season the women’s team has received the No. 11 ranking–its highest in-season ranking since 2009. The men’s team moved down one spot to No. 4 in the nation, but has held its spot in the top five for the last two weeks.

The BYU women’s team has secured the top-ranked 800m, 1500m and 3000m steeplechase squads for the sixth week in a row. The men’s team currently has the top-ranked 3000m steeplechase and 10,000m squads.
