Men rank No. 4, women No. 24 in latest USTFCCCA rankings

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has ranked the BYU men’s track and field program No. 4 in the nation and the BYU women’s team No. 24 in its latest ratings released on Monday.

Following a weekend where the Cougars earned 29 potential regional-qualifying marks, both BYU track and field teams moved up in this week’s rankings. The fourth-ranked men’s team received its highest outdoor ranking since the USTFCCCA began its national ratings in 2008. The 24th-ranked women’s team made its first appearance in the top 25 this season after rankings as high as 18 during the 2018 outdoor season.

The USTFCCCA also placed both Cougar teams atop the Mountain Region in its first regional rankings of the season.

Based on their performances this weekend, the men’s team had seven athletes and the women’s team had six athletes nationally ranked by the USTFCCCA as top performers. Conner Mantz had the nation’s best men’s 10,000m time (28:18.18) and Whittni Orton ran the fastest women’s 1,500m (4:15.44).
