NEW ORLEANS – The BYU men’s track and field team moved up to No. 9 in the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) national rankings on Tuesday.

The Cougars moved up one spot after hosting the BYU Indoor Invitational earlier the month and winning the Air Force Team Challenge last week. This marks the highest in-season ranking the men’s team has received since being No. 8 in 2012.

All-American Clayton Young is the highest rated Cougar at No. 12 in the 3000m while Patrick Parker is No. 29 in the 800m and Raul Rios is No. 30 in the pole vault. The men’s team has a total of nine athletes who are nationally ranked in the top 50.

The BYU women’s team moved up eight spots to No. 42 in the nation. The Cougars have three athletes nationally ranked in the top 30. All-American Andrea Stapleton-Johnson leads the nation in the high jump after breaking her personal record last week. All-American Brenna Porter ranks No. 14 in the 800m and Elise Romney is No. 29 in the pole vault.
