PROVO, Utah – BYU track and field will host the BYU Last Chance Meet, the final meet of the regular season, at the Clarence Robinson Track on May 11-12.

“We’re just trying to get some of our final athletes to earn regional qualifying marks,” BYU head coach Ed Eyestone said. “As things stand right now, unofficially, we have about 54 regional marks and we hope to improve those that are borderline and get some last chance marks.”

Most of the athletes will compete during this meet. However, the majority of the distance runners competed last week and will rest this weekend.

Eyestone said this will be a fun meet to watch as many of the regional qualifiers will be competing.

Andrea Stapleton-Johnson has one of the top high jump marks in the country so Eyestone looks forward to watching her compete again.

Some athletes are currently borderline and this will be their chance to make sure they punch their ticket to regionals. These athletes include Marcus Dickson in the 1500m and David Graham in the 800m.

“We have two goals for this meet,” Eyestone said. “The first is that those who need a qualifying mark will secure that. The second goal is for those who already have that mark to sharpen up and improve. We want to give them the opportunity to have a solid effort two weeks out from the first round of the NCAA’s.”
