PROVO, Utah – BYU track and field returns to action this week at the Ed Jacoby Indoor Invitational at Boise State Friday and Saturday.

"This is our first road trip this season and a good opportunity to see how cohesive we are as a team," BYU head coach Ed Eyestone said.

The Cougars are taking a full squad to the meet and have athletes slated for 26 of the 33 events. Teams throughout the West and Northwest, including in-state rival Utah State, will compete against BYU.

Live stats for the meet can be found at broncosports.com. Post-meet results can be found at byucougars.com.

Athletes to watch

Sophomore Shaquille Walker won the 500 meters with a time of 1:01.05 at last week’s meet. His time came within a sliver of Brycen Spratling’s (Pittsburgh, 2013) collegiate record of 1:00.63. Walker was scheduled for the 400 meters this weekend, but with coaches has decided to take the week off.

Junior Zachary Stetler won the shot put at last week’s meet with a mark of 17.79 meters and is slated to throw the shot put again this weekend.

Freshman Emily Bever claimed first place in the 800 meters last week with a time of 2:15.28. Bever is once again scheduled for the 800 meters at this weekend’s meet.

Junior Alyssa Monteverde-Dalton, who won the 60-meter hurdes with a time of 8.85 last week, is slated for the 60 meters and 60-meter hurdles.

Head coach Ed Eyestone

"This is a 200-meter banked track, and that's great for our runners who may make nationals, because they'll see the same kind of track there."

"We'll be opening up our female distance runners this weekend and really giving them an opportunity to post times and get race experience. In particular, we're looking forward to Shea Martinez and Kelsey Brown, who will run the mile."

"We're excited about Tatenda Tsumba, who is coming off a great long jump last week after being with the team for only a week."

We're also looking forward to another good performance from Zachary Stetler, who had an extremely good shot put throw last week."
