Cougars conclude regular season at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA – BYU track and field concluded the regular season Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational at George C. Griffin Track.

Freshman Colter Rockwell set a personal record in the 800 meter race with a time of 1:50.63 to take 12th overall. For Rockwell, it was just the third 800 meter race of his collegiate career. He is now ranked 69th in the West Region.

The men’s 4x400 meter relay team took first while setting a BYU season-best time of 3:08.50. Tyrell Yardley, Mario Harper, Korey Smith and Sean Adams teamed up for the win.

Senior Deezbaa Whaley was the highest finisher on the women’s side for BYU, taking seventh in the discus with a throw of 46.59 meters (152-10). Sophomore Kaylee Packham and freshman Brenna Porter finished 12th and 13th in the 400 meter hurdles, respectively.

The Cougars will now await the announcement of the field for the NCAA West Regional, which will be held in Fayetteville, Arkansas, May 29-31.
