Women travel to Stanford

PROVO, Utah—The women’s track and field team is traveling to Palo Alto, Calif., this weekend to compete in the Stanford Invitational.

"This is obviously a big meet for us, especially for our mid-distance and distance athletes," BYU head track coach Ed Eyestone said.  "We hope to get five or six regional qualifiers on the women's side, so there is potential for us to really have a good weekend."

Seniors Andrea Nelson Harrison and Lindsey Sowards Nielson will be leading the Cougars in their respective distance events. Both Harrison and Nielson are expected to qualify for regionals and are team leaders in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and 5,000-meter run.

The jumpers will be taking this weekend off, while the distance team will compete tonight and the sprinters and hurdlers will be competing tomorrow.
