Arrhenius competes at World Championships

MOSCOW- BYU assistant track and field coach Niklas Arrhenius placed 24th in the discus throw at the 2013 IAAF World Championships this week.

As a dual citizen in the U.S. and Sweden, Arrhenius competed for Sweden at the championships. He took 12th in his group and 24th overall with a long throw of 59.13 meters.

Arrhenius qualified for the world championships on June 28th, the last possible weekend, after attempts to qualify at various meets in Europe and the U.S. This was Arrhenius’ fourth appearance at the World Championships (2011, 2009, 2007). He also competed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and has made five appearances in the indoor and outdoor European Championships, throwing shot put and discus.
