PROVO, Utah – During the final day of the BYU Robison Invitational, the women’s track & field team was fueled by solid first-place performances in the 4x400- and 4x400-meter relays.

“We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day to finish this invitational,” BYU coach Patrick Shane said. “We had a lot of great performances, but we really stood out in our relays, especially in the 4x400. Nicole (Bringhurst) jumped out early running a 55.03 opening leg, which really started them off well.”

Anchored by senior Natalie Stewart, the 4x400 relay team finished with a time of 3:42.46, the fastest relay time for BYU so far this season. Following Bringhurst was Allysa Hansen, who only extended the lead running a 56.00 leg. Kelsey Brown ran third for the team running a leg of 55.60. Stewart ran the final leg of 55.00.

The 4x100 also finished with a top time this season in 46.24.

In the 400-meter final, Natalie Stewart finished first overall with a time of 53.90. Teammates Nicole Rudd Bringhurst and Kelsey Brown finished second and third with times of 53.90 and 56.50, respectively. Bringhurst’s time also ranks her 10th on the BYU all-time record board in the 400.

Aubrey Hale finished second overall in the 100-meter final with a time of 11.89. Hale came from several spots back finishing only .01 behind Idaho State’s Camille Marchand, who finished first with a time of 11.88. Hale also anchored the 4x100 relay team in their first-place finish.

In the pole vault, Rachel Fisher finished first with a mark of 4.01. Fellow vaulters Kelli Ehardt and Amy Moffat placed fifth and sixth with heights of 3.66m and 3.51m, respectively.

In the javelin, Allyson Anderson Wardell placed fourth overall with a throw of  47.60m. Freshman Taylor Barrus placed eighth with a mark of 37.24m

With the season winding down, the Cougars return to competition Wednesday in Ogden, Utah, for the Weber State Twilight.
