BYU Women's Tennis Loses To No. 7 Florida

GAINESVILLE -- Falling to a tough Florida team, the No. 30 BYU women's tennis team lost 8-1 to the 7th-ranked Gators Friday in Gainesville, Fla.

The Cougars picked up their only point in the doubles competition when senior Eline Chiew and freshman Lu Oswald defeated Traci Green and Julia Scaringe 9-8 at number two doubles. Florida's Whitney Laiho and Jessica Lehnhoff, the 26th-ranked doubles team in the country, defeated senior Kim Kelly and junior Jodi Richardson 8-4 in number one doubles.

In singles, Chiew, who is ranked 71st in the country, was defeated 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 by No. 25 Laiho in number one singles. The Gators have five singles players currently ranked and all of them won Friday. Lehnhoff, ranked 30th, defeated Kelly 6-1, 6-4 in number two singles.

The win improved the Gators' home record to 12-0 on the season. The Cougars drop to 8-4 overall. BYU will face Arkansas Saturday in Gainesville at 1 p.m. The match with the Razorbacks will conclude the regular season for the Cougars. The Mountain West Conference tournament will be Apr. 27-29 in Las Vegas.

2. Chiew/Oswald (BYU) def. Green/Scaringe, 9-8

3. Camino/Hazlett (UF) def. Reynolds/ Khoudoiarova, 8-1
