Cougars Play Utes in Final MWC Contest

PROVO, Utah (April 11, 2002) ? The No. 41 BYU women?s tennis team will finish its Mountain West Conference season with an important matchup with in-state rival Utah Friday at 2 p.m. in Salt Lake City. The Cougars (8-12, 3-3) are fighting for a favorable seed for the upcoming MWC tournament and hope to end the regular season on a good note.

The Cougars carry a two-match winning streak into the Utah match. Last week, BYU knocked off Colorado State, 4-3, and Wyoming, 5-2, to climb back to .500 in the conference. Dominique Reynolds, a junior from Mexico City, has won 11 consecutive singles matches and teams with Brooke Beverley to form the No. 30 doubles team in the nation.

The Cougars will host the MWC tournament, Apr. 25-27, at the Smith Field House outdoor tennis courts. BYU aims to defend its championship at the tournament and avenge earlier losses to three MWC teams.
