The Cougars welcome Denver in second home match

PROVO, Utah – BYU (3-1) returns to Provo to compete against the Denver Pioneers (4-2) at home on Friday, Feb. 16 at 12:00 p.m. MST.

Head Coach Lauren Jones-Spencer has led the Cougars to their best start of the regular season since 2013, when the team finished their first four matches undefeated. Sophomores Kate Cusick in No. 4 singles and Polina Malykh at No. 6 singles, remain undefeated through four matches of singles play.

BYU is coming off a successful three-match California road trip where it finished 2-1.

The Cougars started the trip off with great momentum after a sweep over UC Irvine, winning 7-0. Against Long Beach State the following day, BYU suffered a 4-3 loss to the 49ers. The match came down to a tiebreaker in the third set of the final singles match. The Cougars were not deterred and beat the Aztecs of San Diego State the next day 5-2.

Denver is coming off a home win against Boise State Saturday. The Pioneers defeated the Broncos handily in a 7-0 sweep. In addition, Denver defeated Utah State 7-0 the day prior to make it two consecutive sweeps. Historically, competing against Denver, BYU is 8-6.
