Poulsen and Ware finish doubles play at ITA All-American Tournament

PROVO, Utah -- BYU's Nicolette Poulsen and Savannah Ware finished doubles competition Wednesday at the Riviera/ITA Women's All American Championships held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Palisades, Calif.

The Cougars trailed DePaul’s Yuliya Shupenia and Rebeca Mitrea 6-1 but made a strong comeback before being defeated 8-6 in the first round of the qualifying draw on Tuesday. 

In the consolation bracket on Wednesday, BYU fell 8-3 to Stanford’s Caroline Doyle and Melissa Lord.

Poulsen and Ware are currently ranked No. 33 in the ITA preseason poll. Last season, they earned All-WCC honors in doubles after posting a 12-4 record during the 2014-2015 season.

The BYU women’s tennis team will travel to Las Vegas next week to play in the ITA Regional Tournament being held Oct. 13-17 at the Ferititta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.
