Home opener vs. Aggies

PROVO, Utah – No. 65 BYU women’s tennis (2-0) returns home for their first home match of the young season against Utah State Wednesday, January 28 at 10:00 a.m. MST.

"We are really glad to be playing at home this week," BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. "There is something special and exciting about playing in front of your home fans. Our girls have been working hard this week and are ready for the match."

The Cougars opened the season last weekend in Houston against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and No. 37 University of Houston. BYU beat Corpus Christi after the match was called with the Cougars up 4-0 then battled to a victory over  No. 37 Houston 4-3.

Sophomores Mayci Jones and Toby Miclat continued their dominant doubles play by beating Houston’s No. 1 doubles duo 6-0 last Monday. Miclat also clinched the match for BYU with a 1-6, 7-6, 7-5 thrilling victory at No. 4 singles.

The Aggies are 3-0 this season and are coming off of two 7-0 trouncings of Idaho State and Colorado Mesa. Senior McKenzie Davis set the Utah State singles win record with her 74th victory in her Idaho State match and built on it with her 75th against Colorado Mesa.
