SANTA CLARA, Calif. - In its second match in as many days, the BYU women's tennis team lost to Santa Clara 5-2 Saturday at the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Cougars (7-7, 1-2 West Coast Conference) notched a victory at the No. 3 doubles position as
Aubrey Paul and
Desiree Tran topped Stephanie Skaras and Delphine Rouvillios 8-7(5). But the Broncos (7-5, 2-0 WCC) went on to win the remaining two doubles matches to secure the first point of the day.
In singles,
Meghan Sheehan-Dizon came from behind to beat Kelly Lamble in three sets at the No. 2 position, 2-6, 6-4, 10-8. Paul earned a win on court 6 as she defeated Skaras in straight sets 7-6(5), 6-3. Paul owns a team-high 11 wins on the season.
Senior
Desiree Tran fell to No. 32 Katie Le 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position. Santa Clara rounded out the match with wins on court 3, 4 and 5.
BYU continues its stretch of conference matches in California on March 29 against San Diego and Saint Mary's on March 30.
