ST. GEORGE, Utah — Allysha Mae Mateo shot a one-over 145 Monday to put herself and the BYU women’s golf team in third place through the first two rounds of the BYU at Entrada Classic.

“We had a rough start, but our finish helped us move up the leaderboard,” BYU head coach Carrie Roberts said. “Three birdies on the last hole was a great finish. Allysha was solid all day and has a good chance to win tomorrow.”

Mateo posted a 74 (+2) in round one and a 71 (-1) in round two to finish the day just four strokes behind current co-leaders Lauren Cox and Patricia Sinolungan of North Texas. Mateo carded a team-best 23 pars on the afternoon and added six birdies. The sophomore also recorded a team-low 4.00 par-4 scoring average.
