Cougars in second after day one of BYU Riverside Classic
PROVO, Utah — BYU women's golf posted a 10-over-par total on day one of the Riverside Classic on Monday to sit in a tie for second going into the final round at Riverside Country Club.
No. 59 Sacramento State (288-283—571) holds the 36-hole lead at 5-under-par with No. 70 BYU (293-293—586) and No. 80 New Mexico State (291-295—586) tied for second at 10-over.
No. 93 San Diego State (291-296—587) sits in fourth with No. 37 Denver (303-290—593) rounding out the Top 5.
BYU senior Anncik Haczkiewicz fired rounds of 72-71—143 to sit just one shot off the pace set by Sacramento State's Ella Craft, who holds the 36-hole lead. After two birdies and two bogeys in round one, Haczkiewicz carded four birdies in the second round to draw within one of the lead.
Berlin Long, who is competing as an individual, sits at even par after shooting 70-74—144 on the opening day to sit in seventh going into the final day.
Allysha Mae Mateo is three back at 1-over-par after firing rounds of 73-72—145 and is in a tie for eighth. Adeline Anderson held the 18-hole lead before completing the 36-hole opening day with rounds of 69-77—146. She sits in 14th with 18 holes to play.
Alexa Udom is inside the top-25 as she is tied for 20th after 36 holes. The sophomore recorded rounds of 75-74—149 for a 5-over total.
Lila Galeai and Kerstin Fotu are tied for 31st after shooting rounds of 76-76—152 and 73-79—152 on day one, respectively.
BYU will tee off in the final round beginning at 8:30 a.m. MDT with San Diego State, New Mexico State and Sacramento State.
