In her tenth year as head coach of the BYU women's golf program, Carrie Summerhays Roberts continues a tradition unique to Cougar golf. A native of Heber City, Utah, Roberts joined the Cougars in 1998 when, as a freshman, she was named first team All-WAC and placed eighth at the WAC Championships. She also placed third at the NCAA West Regional as a sophomore. Roberts holds the BYU record for most career tournament victories with six and was named to the Mountain West Conference all-decade team in 2009. After graduating from BYU Roberts became the first Utah born woman to qualify for the LPGA tour where she qualified for two U.S. Open Championships.
The Cougars excelled under Roberts in her first year as the head coach, finishing third at the MWC championships and advancing to the NCAA West Regionals for the first time since 2008. In the 2015-16 season, Roberts led the Cougars to four regular season tournament wins, as well as a WCC Championship title. Roberts was also named as the 2015-16 WCC Coach of the Year. The Cougars responded in 2016-17 with yet another WCC Championship title and Roberts again earned WCC Coach of the Year honors. The 2017-2018 season marked the third-straight WCC Championship title for the Cougars and the third WCC Coach of the Year honor in a row for Roberts.
Roberts and her husband Cory now reside in Lindon, Utah, with their children Mary, Charles and Lincoln.
