McAdams Finishes Fourth at USA Track & Field Championships
EUGENE, Ore.—Joshua McAdams, a BYU alumnus, placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend. McAdams, who competed for the Cougars from 2004-2006, now runs professionally for New Balance and finished with a time of 8:30.78.
Three others, currently on the Cougars’ roster, also competed in the championships, including Miles Batty (1,500m), Victor Weirich (pole vault) and Chris Little (pole vault).
Batty finished just one second behind the qualifying time for the finals in the 1,500-meter race, with a time of 3:41.72.
Team USA men’s head coach, Vin Lanana, commented on the results of the weekend meet and the future of his team.
“I think we have a good combination, a good balance of veterans and youth,” Lanana said. “I think the United States is in a great position for the ITFF Championships in Daegu and also in setting the table for what’s to happen in London a year from now.”
