Three Named to Academic All-District Teams
PROVO, Utah -- Making an impact in the classroom, track and field athletes Miles Batty, Trevor Heiner and Rachel Fisher have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team.
Batty, a junior, makes the District 8 First Team, while Heiner, a senior and sophomore Fisher earn Second Team honors, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
An All-American in cross country and track, Batty currently has a 3.95 GPA while majoring in both neuroscience and exercise science. Batty finished 15th in cross country at the NCAA Championships and won national titles in both the mile and distance medley relay during indoor track season. He is currently awaiting a shot at a national title in the 1,500 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on June 8-11.
Heiner finished with a 3.93 GPA in business management. He won the indoor MWC title in the high jump in the MWC and finished second during outdoor season. The Centerville product is currently awaiting the NCAA Championships also.
Representing the women’s team, Fisher, from Allen, Texas, finished her sophomore year with a 3.90 GPA in biophysics. Competing in the pole vault, Fisher won the MWC indoor title and broke the BYU pole vault record less than two weeks later, clearing 4.26m (13-11.75). She also represented the Cougars at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.
