Batty and Andrews Named MWC Track Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU junior Miles Batty has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, while BYU junior Katy Andrews has been named the Women's Outdoor Track & Field Co-Athlete of the Week. Andrews shares the honor with New Mexico's Ruth Senior.
Batty, from Sandy, Utah, set a new Mountain West record in the men’s 1,500-meter run last weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Batty clocked a league-record and program-record time of 3:36.25 to earn first-place accolades among collegiate competitors (third overall behind two professional runners). Batty’s mark ranks first in both the Mountain West and NCAA during the 2011 outdoor season.
Andrews, a product of Encinitas, Calif., recorded a new personal-best time of 10:12:04 in the women’s 3,000-meter Steeplechase at the Mt. SAC Relays last weekend in Walnut, Calif.
