Arrhenius Named MWC Co-Athlete of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU senior Leif Arrhenius has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's Co-Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week. Arrhenius shares the honor with Justin Tyner of Air Force.
Hailing from Orem, Utah, Arrhenius claimed first-place honors in the discus throw at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays last weekend in Austin, Texas. Arrhenius registered a throw of 199’-4.00” (60.75m) to win the event. That mark ranks third all-time in Mountain West history and is first in the Conference and second in the NCAA during the 2011 outdoor season.
Arrhenius also competed in the shot put at the Texas Relays, finishing in fifth place with a throw of 60'-1.75" (18.33m). The senior is the fourth Cougar to be recognized as Men's Athlete of the Week for the outdoor season.
