Robinson and Richardson Named MWC Track Athletes of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- BYU junior Ada Robinson has been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week. BYU senior Sean Richardson has also been selected as the MWC Men's Co-Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, sharing the honor with TCU's Mychal Dungey.
A product of Centerville, Utah, Robinson won the women's high jump title at the USC Quad-Meet last weekend in Los Angeles, Calif. Competing for the first time during the 2011 outdoor season, Robinson cleared the pole at 5'-10.75" (1.80m) to earn first-place honors in the event. Robinson's mark currently ranks atop the Mountain West and is tied for third in the NCAA.
Richardson, from Silver City, New Mexico, claimed first-place honors in the javelin throw at the Utah Valley University Invitational last weekend in Orem, Utah. Richardson registered a throw of 230'-11.00" (70.38m) to win the event. That mark, which beat the next closest competitor by over eight meters, ranks third all-time in MWC history. Richardson's throw also ranks first in the Conference and 15th in the NCAA this season.
