COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU senior Chris Little has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athlete of the Week, while BYU junior Katie Palmer has been named the Women's Outdoor Track & Field Co-Athlete of the Week. Palmer shares the honor with TCU senior Jessica Young.

Little, from Los Gatos, Calif., claimed first-place honors in the pole vault at the Stanford Invitational last weekend in Palo Alto, Calif. Competing against student-athletes from four other top 25 institutions, Little cleared a height of 17’-0.75” (5.20m) to earn the individual crown. His mark in the event ranks first in the MWC this season and is tied for fourth in the country in 2011.

Hailing from Boulder City, Nevada, Palmer earned first-place accolades in the 800-meter run at the Stanford Invitational last weekend in Palo Alto, Calif. Competing against student-athletes from 10 other top 25 institutions, Palmer clocked a time of 2:05.11 to win the event. Her time in the 800m ranks first in both the Mountain West and NCAA this season. In the 1,500-meter run, Palmer placed third among collegiate athletes (sixth overall), finishing the race in 4:20.82. That mark ranks first in the MWC and third in the country during the 2011 outdoor season.
