Weirich Earns Athlete of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS -- Sophomore Victor Weirich has been selected as the Mountain West Conference Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
From a family of track athletes in Fredericksburg, Texas, Weirich cleared a personal best 5.50m (18-00.50) in the pole vault at the New Mexico Cherry and Silver Invitational last weekend to win first place in the event. The NCAA-automatic qualifying mark currently ranks No. 1 in the country this season, according to TFRRS.org.
“The performance of the meet has to go to Victor in the pole vault,” men’s head coach Mark Robison said. “Wow, what a great meet.”
