Student-Athletes Receive 2010 USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Honors
PROVO -- The BYU men’s and women’s track and field teams had 25 athletes named to the 2010 Division I Men's and Women's All-Academic Track & Field Teams by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Both the men’s team and the women's team were named as 2010 Division I Track & Field All-Academic Teams. The All-Academic Team requires a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or better.
The Cougar men had 10 selections; finishing second behind Stanford with 12, meanwhile the women’s team totaled 15 selections, coming in second place behind Nebraska with 18 honorees.
New records were set in total selections for both the men’s and women’s teams. A total of 357 athletes were selected from 118 Division 1 institutions to make up the men’s team, with 557 athletes from 152 Division 1 institutions on the women's team.
The USTFCCCA honors Division I individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track & field seasons. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track & Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in his or her respective event.
